Blue: Electric Blue

Blue Electric Blue

Introduction

It’s been forty years. Plenty of time to get some sense of perspective. Or so you’d think. So is it me, or was it then? Nothing beneath the surface emerges. It’s all there in glitz, in shimmer. Where’s the depth? Where’s the hope? The Cold War weighed on everything, so much is true. How to respond, if not with nihilism and front? but there must have been more, surely? And what of politics? What of change? Well, it was coming, in its shoulder pads and its red braces. It was coming in the stinking shopping centre and the derelict war. It spat on the likes of us. We’d respond with dancing, with hanging around the estate and with music. How else to make sense of the senseless?
